About US
My story
Hi! My name is Florence, and I love all animals - great and small, wild and tame - but I am especially drawn to guinea pigs. I love their soulful looks, their different personalities, and their loving trust and dependency on their human friends. I have cared for them for many years, and I currently have a 'little' herd of 33 at home, along with several rescued furry and feathery friends.
As an anthrozoologist and animal behaviourist, I have established Love For Cavies, a Canadian benefit company, to advance the well-being of all human and non-human animals as we are all sentient, intelligent living beings with unique personalities. Companion animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits, and other small pets deserve as much love, respect, and attention as our canine and feline companions. Regrettably, that is not yet the case.
I, therefore, endeavour to give guinea pigs and their critter friends a voice through Love For Cavies by offering research-based knowledge, tools and critter supplies for human guardians to better care for and connect with their little companion friends.
Behavioural or Emergency Consultations
Love For Cavies offers 1-on-1 virtual behavioural consultations in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin across all time zones.
We also provide emergency consultations should guinea pig guardians require urgent assessments of their guinea pigs' welfare. Under no circumstance does this consultation replace veterinary care or suggest so. We offer this service because some situations can be remedied or temporarily soothed with non-prescriptive efforts.

When you go away for business or pleasure, leaving your beloved guinea pigs behind is impossible without ensuring they have proper care 24/7. With years of guinea pig caring experience, Love For Cavies promises to offer your cherished critter companions a home away from home. Our valued guests will receive unlimited hay, Oxbow adult/young guinea pig pellets (or a different brand provided by their guardians), homemade Vitamin C cookies daily, fresh veggies, complimentary grooming service, floor time, and limitless love and cuddles. We also appreciate how much you will miss them, so daily text or video updates will be provided. Virtual facetime can be arranged too!
